Get There. Lift Big. Move On.
Whatever the requirements, there's a Grove for the job.
The Grove GMK range gives NZ operators a single-brand answer to virtually any mobile lift. Engineered for high-output lifting across changing ground and tight access,
Grove All Terrain Cranes deliver strong charts, confident mobility and roadable speed - backed by TRT’s NZ-wide support. With proven Grove technology like MEGAFORM and MEGATRAK, plus CCS controls and MAXbase, you get control, efficiency and reliability where it counts.
Grove All Terrain is built around smarter systems that make hard lifts safer, quicker to set and easier to run day to day - especially when access is tight, ground is mixed, and uptime matters.
-
MEGAFORM Boom
Grove's patented MEGAFORM boom profile is shaped to carry more load at greater extension than a conventional rectangular or oval section. For the operator, that translates to a better chart at every radius. More lift capacity available where the job actually needs it.
-
MEGATRAK Independent Suspension
The MEGATRAK suspension system operates independently on each axle, maintaining stability and ground contact across uneven terrain. On a mixed road and off-road route to a tight site, the crane keeps moving without the delays that come from a machine that struggles off sealed surfaces.
-
Taxi Counterweight Configuration
Carry practical counterweight on-board to reduce support transport and speed up mobilisation.
The crane arrives at site ready to work without waiting on a second vehicle. For operators running multiple lifts in a day, that is a direct reduction in cost per job. -
Manitowoc Crane Control System (CCS)
Boom configurator mode within the CCS calculates the optimal boom setup for the job at hand.
Operators set up faster, make fewer configuration errors, and have a clear view of capacity at every position. That is time saved on every lift. -
MAXbase Variable Outrigger Positioning
Variable outrigger positioning gives the operator a certified working configuration with partial or asymmetric outrigger deployment.
The lift chart adjusts to the actual setup, and the job proceeds on sites that would otherwise require a different crane or a different approach. -
Manitowoc Crane Care by TRT
Every Grove crane sold through TRT is backed by Manitowoc Crane Care, with factory-trained technicians, genuine parts, and service coverage across New Zealand and Australia.
Spec range that fits the site, the lift, and the run between.
The GMK range covers 50 t to 450 t, but the headline capacity is only part of the story.
What matters on a job is what the crane can reach. Main boom lengths run from 40 m on the three-axle models to 80 m on the GMK6300L-1, with maximum tip heights reaching 136 m on the GMK6400-1 and GMK7450.
Across the range, counterweight-on-board taxi configurations means your crane arrives on site ready to lift.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can these cranes get to site without a support vehicle for the counterweight?
On most models across the GMK range, yes. Multiple units carry operational counterweight in taxi configuration within 12 t per axle, meaning no second vehicle is required to reach and perform standard lifts.
The specific taxi counterweight capacity varies by model, so it is worth checking the product guide or talking to TRT for the exact figure on the model you are evaluating.
-
How does the MEGAFORM boom affect lift capacity at reach?
The MEGAFORM profile is shaped to carry more load at greater radius than a conventional rectangular or oval boom section.
In practical terms, the chart holds stronger as you extend the boom, which often means a smaller GMK model can take a job that would otherwise require stepping up a class.
-
What does MAXbase do on a confined site?
MAXbase allows the outriggers to be deployed in asymmetric or partial configurations rather than requiring full extension on all four.
The system provides a certified working chart for whatever outrigger position the site allows. It opens up a significant number of sites that would otherwise require ground preparation or a different machine.
-
How does the single-engine design affect running costs?
On key models including the five-axle and above range, Grove's single-engine design powers both the carrier and the crane from one drivetrain.
Compared to previous-generation two-engine designs, that cuts diesel consumption by up to 30%. Over the life of the machine, the fuel saving is significant and contributes directly to a stronger return on investment.
-
What is the difference between MEGAFORM and MEGATRAK?
They solve different problems.
MEGAFORM is Grove's patented boom profile, shaped to carry more load at greater extension than a conventional section.
MEGATRAK is the independent suspension system on the carrier, designed to maintain stability and ground contact across uneven terrain.
One determines what you can lift and how far. The other determines how you get there.
-
What is an all-terrain crane?
An all-terrain crane is a mobile crane mounted on a multi-axle carrier that travels on public roads at highway speeds and operates on unpaved, soft, or uneven ground at the worksite.
It combines the roadability of a truck crane with genuine off-road capability. For operators moving between jobs on mixed routes or working on sites that are not fully prepared, it removes the compromises you get from a crane that only handles one condition well.
