Built to make loading easier.
The TRT Tri Axle Widening Forklift Trailer is purpose-built for transporting forklifts, small machines, access equipment and materials handling gear.
Designed for the real challenges of modern forklift transport, it gives operators a low loading angle, practical deck height, and the ability to widen for larger machines on site.
For high-reach forklifts, compact equipment and machinery with limited ground clearance, this is a trailer built to make difficult loads easier to move.
Solving the forklift transport problem.
As forklifts get bigger, heavier and taller, moving them safely and efficiently is becoming more complex. High-reach forklifts can create real transport challenges, especially where overall load height, ground clearance and loading angle all matter.
That is exactly where TRT’s Forklift Trailer comes into its own.
The trailer can lower for loading, widen on site, and provide a straight-through loading path for wider equipment. It is designed to help operators load large forklifts without lifting gear, while keeping transport practical, controlled and efficient.
-
Low loading height
Sometimes a low loader just does not get low enough.
The TRT Forklift Trailer is designed to lower for loading, helping create the shallow approach angle needed for forklifts and machinery with limited ground clearance. This makes it easier to drive equipment onto the trailer safely and confidently. -
Widening trailer design
The trailer travels at road-friendly width, then widens on site to load larger machinery.
That gives operators the flexibility to move forklifts and equipment up to wider dimensions without relying on lifting gear. It is a practical answer to a very real transport problem. -
Straight-through loading
The widening system and hydraulic infill decks create a clear loading path from the ramp through the deck.
For operators, that means less setup, less handling and a more direct way to load larger machines. -
Built for tall, heavy forklifts
Modern warehouse forklifts are getting taller and heavier, especially as stacking heights increase. That creates height and loading challenges conventional trailers are not always built to solve.
TRT’s Forklift Trailer has been developed with those challenges in mind, helping carriers move larger forklift equipment with more control. -
Five ride heights
The trailer’s suspension system allows multiple ride heights, giving operators greater flexibility across loading, travel and site conditions.
That adjustability helps the trailer work across a wider range of jobs, yards and machinery types. -
Strong componentry
Built with BPW axles, super single wheels and wide tyres, the trailer is designed for demanding transport work.
It is practical, robust and engineered for the long haul. -
TRT Parts and Service Support
TRT supports your Forklift Trailer with genuine parts, service backup and technical advice from people who know the equipment inside out.
Because we design, build and support our trailers under one roof, you get practical answers, reliable parts supply and long-term support to help keep your operation moving.
Rated for the Work
The trailer travels closed at under 2.5m for unladen road movements, then widens on site to accommodate machines up to 2.6m wide.
Tridec airbag suspension with 300mm of stroke brings the deck to 350mm when lowered.
GVM is 36,000kg with payload to 24 tonnes across New Zealand and Australia.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What machines can this trailer carry?
The trailer is suited to high-reach forklifts, large counterbalance units, excavators, reach stackers, and motorhomes, covering machines up to 2.6m wide.
The deck lowers to 350mm for machines with minimal ground clearance, and the box beam widening system allows machines that wide to drive on without lifting gear.
Contact the TRT team to confirm compatibility for your specific machine.
-
Does this trailer require an oversize permit?
For unladen road travel, the trailer closes to under 2.5m, which falls within the standard road width limit across New Zealand and Australia.
No oversize permit is required for that movement. When transporting a loaded machine, applicable width limits and any permit requirements depend on the machine dimensions, the route, and the jurisdiction.
Contact your local transport regulator or the TRT team to confirm what applies to your situation.
-
How does the suspension work, and how low does the deck get?
The trailer uses Tridec airbag suspension from the Netherlands, with 300mm of stroke and five selectable ride heights.
When fully lowered, the deck sits at 350mm above the ground. That height was chosen specifically to bring next-generation high-reach forklifts with minimal ballast clearance within loading range without modification or additional equipment.
-
How does the widening system work on site?
TRT's box beam widening system opens the trailer hydraulically on site.
The Hardox infill decks then lower to create a continuous loading surface from the ramp through to the main deck. Machines up to 2.6m wide drive straight on without any step, gap, or lifting gear.
For unladen road travel, the trailer closes back to under 2.5m.
-
Can TRT build this trailer to a different deck length?
Yes. TRT manufactures this trailer to the deck length your operation requires. Standard builds cover most applications, and the team can configure a custom length to suit particular machines or site constraints.
Talk to the TRT trailers team about your requirements and we will confirm what is achievable and provide a build quote.
-
What after-sale support does TRT provide for trailers?
TRT supports its trailers across New Zealand and Australia. The team can advise on maintenance, assist with any issues after delivery, and supply parts where required.
TRT has been manufacturing and supporting heavy transport equipment for over 58 years, and the trailers team has the experience to help you keep the asset earning.
