PROVEN ACROSS THE SEAS OF THE GLOBE
HIAB non-continuous slewing marine cranes are made for on-deck, dockside and service crane applications where strength, control and reliability matter every day.
Designed for demanding sea conditions, these cranes support a wide range of marine operations, from material loading and unloading to vessel support, recovery work and fishing applications. They are compact, proven and configurable to suit different vessel layouts and operational needs.
Made for the way you work at sea
Marine work asks a lot from your gear. HIAB marine cranes are built to perform in tough operating environments, with robust materials, corrosion protection and dependable lifting performance.
The knuckle boom design gives operators excellent freedom of movement, precise load handling and strong lifting capacity, while folding into a compact storage position when the job is done.
Ideal for:
Workboats and fishing vessels
Coast guard and supply vessels
Tugs, barges and dredgers
Research boats and service vessels
Dockyards and marine support operations
Oil platforms and specialist marine applications
-
Strong marine-ready construction
Built with high-quality materials and designed to stand up to salt, spray, temperature change and hard daily use.
-
Compact when stowed
The knuckle boom design folds efficiently, helping save valuable deck space.
-
Precise load handling
Smooth control and strong lifting performance help operators work safely and efficiently in tight or changing marine environments.
-
Configured for your vessel
HIAB marine cranes can be specified to suit different vessel types, work requirements and marine applications.
-
Backed by TRT support
TRT helps you choose the right crane, supports installation requirements and backs your equipment with parts, service and technical support.
Built for durability
HIAB marine cranes are built with the marine environment in mind. Protective finishes, stainless steel components, hot dip galvanised boom sections and robust hydraulic cylinder treatments help reduce corrosion and protect critical parts from salt, spray and hard daily use.
An oil bath type slewing system supports easier maintenance and long service life, while the crane’s strength calculations can be carried out in accordance with EN 13001. The result is a durable marine crane designed to keep working in demanding on-deck, dockside and service applications.
- Key durability features include:
SA 2.5 shot blasting before primer for a high-quality paint finish
Stainless steel pipes, hoses, pipe fittings and bolts in key areas
Hot dip galvanising on extension booms and outer boom beams
Double chrome treatment and special seals on hydraulic cylinders
Marine paint system with primer, middle and final coats
Oil bath type slewing system for easier maintenance and long service life
Strength calculation in accordance with EN 13001
Capability Across the Range
Seven model families cover 4 to 25 tonne-metres of lifting capacity with hydraulic reach from 5.5 to 14.1 metres, giving a close specification match for most vessel and application requirements across New Zealand and Australia.
The range operates at up to 7 degrees of vessel heel without lifting capacity restriction, which means the crane works with the vessel, not against it.
Load charts for each model family are available to download.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the difference between non-continuous and continuous slewing marine cranes?
The non-continuous slewing range uses a heavy-duty rack and pinion system to drive the slew function across an arc of up to 410 degrees.
This produces high slewing torque and precise, controlled movement, making it well suited to mussel harvesting, aquaculture, and cargo handling on smaller to medium vessels.
The continuous slewing range uses a marine slew motor and roller bearing system for full continuous rotation and suits larger vessels with greater lifting and reach requirements. If you are unsure which configuration suits your operation, the TRT team can help you work through it.
-
Can these cranes operate when the vessel is listing or heeled?
The heavy-duty slewing system on the HIAB non-continuous slewing range is rated to maintain lifting capacity at vessel heel.
Most models in the range operate at up to 7 degrees of heel without restriction on rated lifting capacity, so the crane performs in real working conditions on the water. Check the specific model load chart before committing to a unit, as the heel rating can vary across the range.
-
Can I fit more than one crane to a single vessel?
Multiple HIAB marine cranes can be configured on a single vessel, which allows flexible working arrangements and higher operational productivity.
The right configuration depends on deck layout, vessel stability, and the specific lifting tasks required. TRT and the Hiab application team can work through the configuration with you to confirm what suits your vessel.
-
What marine certifications are available for these cranes?
A wide range of international marine certifications is available upon request, including Lloyd's Register, ClassNK, ABS, RINA, DNV-GL, Bureau Veritas, and others.
The certification process is managed in cooperation with the customer and the Hiab sales team.
Talk to TRT about the certification requirements for your vessel, flag, and operating waters, and we can advise on the right pathway.
-
How do I choose the right model for my vessel and operation?
The key inputs are your required lifting capacity, the reach you need across the working area on deck, and the physical constraints of the installation point on your vessel.
Load charts are available for each of the seven model families to help with that assessment.
If you want to work through the numbers, the TRT team can assist with model selection based on your application, vessel type, and deck configuration.
-
What parts and service support is available in New Zealand and Australia?
Hiab operates one of the most extensive global service networks, with original spare parts and maintenance support available through authorised agents.
In New Zealand and Australia, TRT is the authorised Hiab distributor and can assist with parts supply, servicing, and technical support.
